1/30/08 After a loss to Albert Gallatin in the first round of the playoffs, the Hawks bounce back with a nice victory over Blackhawk, 54-12. On the power of falls from Jake Ricciuti, Anthony Scarillo and Adam Lazenga the Hawk strolled to an easy win. Nick Bonaccorsi (9-0), Phillip Kail (17-2), and Ace Bonaccorsi (17-2), all added wins, to boost the Hawks to victory. With Nick (152), Jake (160), Anthony (171), and Adam (215), the bottom of the Hawks line up has come up solid for the Hawks late in the year. With all but senor Scarillo returning next year, we can only expect improvement there next year.
1/16/08 Hawks run section record to 8-0 with a convincing win over Baldwin, 55-15. Anthony Scarillo's pin at 1:19 of the 2nd round got things rolling, and Adam Lazenga's dominating preformance, ( 15-0 ) put the Hawks on the winning track. The top of the line up was solid as a rock with wins from Rob Heuler (9-0), Phillip Kail (11-7), Ace Bonaccorsi (11-3), and Rico Borz (6-1), putting Baldwin down 25-12. Falls from Josh Ricciuti at 140, and Mike Ganley at 145, capped the win. Nick Bonaccorsi, Jake Ricciuti, and Jim Karam all received forfeits to end the match and bring our Hawks one step closer to the section title.
1/11/08 Central Catholic proved no match for the Blackhawks, falling 58-15 and becoming the latest victim of the Hawks march to a section title. The Hawks are solid from top to bottom, lacking only a 112 lb. wrestler. With the leadership of Anthony Scarillo (171), Dan Buckley (HWT), and Rico Borz (130), the heart of Jimmy Karam (189), and Rob Heuler (103), The drive of Josh Ricciuti (140),Martin Sams (135) and Jake Ricciuti (160), the skill of Ace Bonaccorsi (125), Mike Ganley (145) and Adam Lazenga (215), the young guns Phillip Kail (120) and Nick Bonaccorsi (152), along with quality backups that include Jordan Bonham (145), Eric Heisler (140) and Craig Palombine (160), the Hawks are a solid squad. The team is a direct reflection of Coach Bobby Stewart, and his staff Bill and Mark Bonaccorsi, Gary Schaff, and Tim Crawford, who have put these young men in position for a great season. Fridays Central match was fueled by falls from Rico, Nick and Jake and victories in eleven of the fourteen matches. Next on the hit list Baldwin.
1/9/08 McGuffey lastest victim, as the Blackhawks roll up a 42-21 victory. Led by the seniors Rico Borz ( 8-3 ), Anthony Scarillo ( 2-1 ) and Dan Buckley ( 1-0 ) the Hawks took control and never looked back. The highlight match a triple overtime win from Josh Ricciuti, who overcame some questionable calls and secured a win at 140. Mike Ganley's 3-0 win and Nick Bonaccorsi with a 4-2 victory edged up the totals. Two dominating preformances from Adam Lazenga, and Phillip Kail, both with pins early in their matches, and the scoring was complete. The Hawks undeafeated with just three more section matches to go, have a perfect regular season within their grasps


12/19/07 Thomas Jefferson was totally overpowered by the Hawks considering they fielded only 3 wrestlers in a 63-6 loss. Rob, Rico and Anthony were the only 3 Hawks who had competition and Rob Heuler wrestled up at 113. Not much to say here except quickest match in history. Team Bethel run their record to 4-0 on the season.


12/15/07 Running thier record to 3-0 with a convincing 52-25 victory over West Mifflin the Hawks remain undefeated. Anthony Scarillo started the party with a 13-2 victory at 171, and Adam Lazenga (215) added a fall at 1:18 of the first period. Forfeits to Danny and Rob and a Phillip Kail (119) pin at :26 of the 2nd round and the Hawks had a 28-12 lead. The middle of the line up proved powerful with falls from Rico Borz, Josh Ricciuti, and Nick Bonaccorsi along with forfeits to Martin Sams and Mike Ganley and a 52-25 outcome. The Hawks notched their 3rd victory with impressive command. It is easy to see the well coached Blackhawks are poised for a great season.


12/12/07 Bethel wrestlers notch second victory over Ringgold, 38-24. Carried by the top of the line up, the Hawks built up a lead and cruised to victory. Starting at 103, Rob Heuler set the tone with a pin at 1:29 of the second period and a quick 6-0 lead. The Rams received a forfeit at 112 to even the score, but Phillip Kail got the Hawks the lead right back with a first round pin at 119. Ace and Rico posted impresive wins 17-5 and 10-0 and Bethel had a 20-6 lead. Josh Ricciuti {140} and Nick Bonaccorsi {152} each had pins and Mike Ganley sandwiched a 5-0 victory in between at 145 and the Hawks had a dominating 35-9 lead. The bottom of the line up did not fair as well, with Adam Lazenga capping off the scoring with a 4-0 win at 215. All in all, a nice 38-24 victory and a 2-0 record, way to go men!


12/5/07 Blackhawks start season with an impressive win over Waynesburg. With the match starting at 145 Mike Ganley's 9-0 victory was followed up by Nick Bonaccorsi's 15-7 victory and the Hawks were off and flying. Falls from Jake Ricciuti at 160, Anthony Scarillo at 171 and Adam Lazanga at 215 the Hawks had built a nice lead. The Raiders battled back with the help of a forfeit at 112, but Phillip Kail and Ace Bonaccorsi each had nice wins 11-5 and 3-1 respectively. Martin Sams, wrestling at 135,in final seconds of the match, sealed the deal with a dramatic 5-4 win. The 35-30 victory is a great start to what will surely be a magical season.
